A Japanese university spinoff developed a breakthrough solid-state battery electrolyte offering superior ionic conductivity and enhanced thermal stability. While the prototype showed exceptional promise, the team lacked the commercial-scale manufacturing capacity, industrial partnerships, and supply chain infrastructure needed to transition to market. Abex Group invested in the venture and facilitated connections with leading automotive OEMs and advanced materials suppliers across Japan and Southeast Asia. We further supported the licensing of key IP to a Tier 1 electronics manufacturer and co-developed the blueprint for a pilot facility designed to scale production in compliance with Japanese industrial safety standards. Today, the company is conducting commercial prototype testing with a major Japanese automotive brand and is on track to begin mass production by 2029.
