A Jakarta-based clean-tech startup developed an AI-optimized microgrid management system designed to electrify remote Indonesian islands through a hybrid of solar, battery, and biomass solutions. While the technology showed strong potential to reduce diesel dependency and stabilize rural power supply, the team faced challenges with deployment logistics, government engagement, and creating scalable community financing models. Abex Group led a structured seed investment round and co-developed a pilot program in collaboration with Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. In addition, we provided commercial advisory to refine their energy-as-a-service model, supported local manufacturing sourcing for battery modules, and guided the company through compliance with Indonesia’s PLN grid interconnection standards.
